My repair skills are nowhere near as beautiful or as skilful as yours but I am inspired to try to make something better, more useable and more joyful from the act of repairing or changing something. And I love those pictures of Cadiz, a city that holds many special memories from holidays nearby

Ah, thank you, you’re too kind. There are many, many mediocre mends in my past that have gotten me to this point! What really matters is that the thing remains usable. Cadiz is such an amazing city - feeling truly fortunate to be able to spend so much time here. Where else did you travel in the area?

We first visited the area nearly 20 years ago and stayed in Vejer a few times; we've also stayed in Medina Sidonia, El Puerto de Santa Maria (caught the ferry to Cadiz!) and Jerez. For the past two years I've been to Sanlucar de Barramenda for the feria and had Spanish lessons. This year I'm heading there again in June just for the feria, it's become my new favourite place! You're very blessed.

living here in Andalucia for 8 years now I've discovered that numerous garments have lost their elasticity - the elastic seems to dry out (?!), become brittle, stretch and loose all elasticity. Especially with elastic shirred waistbands. Very annoying! I now make waistbands with elastic that can be removed and replaced rather than stitching the elastic in permanently
